On Monday, we set off for the athletics track at the Etihad Stadium Complex in Manchester. We were taking part in the ISA North of England Athletics Finals. This was the first time we had entered a team and with the great support of several parents and families we took a squad of 37 children. The weather was kind and the event ran superbly. The facilities and venues that ISA competitions are held in are always top class. We had the excitement of the sprint races, but it was the field events in which we excelled.
Every Clevelands pupil ran, jumped and threw with passion, determination and skill, and we were immensely proud of them all. In an event where thirty schools took part, it was always going to be a tough challenge, but as ever, Clevelands rose to that challenge, with our children securing two silver places and three bronze places. They were bronze for Oliver in the 150m sprint, bronze for Angelina in the rounders ball throw, and bronze for Coco in the High Jump. The silvers went to Rohit in the shot put and Issy in the rounders ball throw.
