On the December 21st, Mrs Critchley and her family accompanied a group of Year Six children to the Bolton Wanderers football match against Southend United. Clevelands were given this great opportunity as we had achieved Sportsmark Gold, an award given to schools who show excellence in sport and a commitment to taking children out of school to competitions.
The whole day was wonderful, and all of the children and their families had a super time, which was made even better with Bolton Wanderers taking a 3-2 victory over their opponents. The main highlight was being given the opportunity to take penalties at half-time. The children were very nervous as they walked out onto the pitch in front of nearly 10,000 people, but they held their nerve and some fabulous goals were scored. The keeper plays for Bolton Wanderers Girls Youth Team and was definitely no push-over! A massive thank you to Bolton Wanderers for this great day.
