On Monday our Year Six children were given the opportunity to participate in a really exciting Lego Robotics Workshop. Brad and Nick from Junior STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) joined us and introduced the children to the world of 3D programming. At Clevelands we use an online programming application called 'Scratch,' so the children were already familiar with the terms algorithm, modelling and de-bugging. This assisted the children greatly when they came to write an algorithm for their 3D model.
They followed technical instructions when creating their designs, adding in a background and sound effects when it was completed. Finally, they connected their models to their Ipads via Bluetooth and tested the instructions that they had programmed. It was an immensely successful day with lots of learning taking place, I think we were all sorry when it was over.
