Children inspired by poet visit
Children's poet, Ian Bland treated Clevelands to workshops for each year group, where he taught them tricks of the trade, and recited his poems to the whole school. The place was buzzing on Thursday with staff and children loving his poems.
Key Stage Two had a wonderful time creating poems with Ian and the morning assembly went down a storm, which we are sure had nothing to do with embarrassing the teachers! The pupils learned about syllables and rhyming words and a few shared their poems in the final assembly, which was excellent. Ian also performed his amusing poems to Years One and Two on Wednesday and taught them about alliteration. After the workshops, which really fired the imagination, the pupils performed their own fantastic poems in assembly. A massive thank you to the PTA for arranging the visit.
